CÉSAR LANZAROTE, LANZAROTE.
ARCHITECT: POSIBLE ARQUITECTURA
INTERIOR DESIGN: VIRGINIA NIETO
STYLE: CANARIAN MINIMALISM
COUNTRY: SPAIN
Lanzarote has never been particularly interested in blending in. With its black volcanic terrain, whitewashed villages and otherworldly landscapes, the island has a character entirely its own. César Lanzarote follows suit, occupying a beautifully restored Canarian residence where traditional architecture and contemporary design find some rather agreeable common ground.
Once a private home, the property has been reimagined with a thoughtful respect for its origins. Whitewashed walls, volcanic stone and natural timber establish a distinctly local palette, while interior designer Virginia Nieto introduces soft textures, handcrafted pieces and just enough contemporary detail to keep things interesting. Nothing feels overly polished, and that is rather the point.
Outside, planted courtyards, terraces and a swimming pool offer a gentler contrast to the island’s dramatic landscape. There is a certain pleasure in the simplicity of it all: warm stone beneath your feet, afternoon light moving across pale walls and very little competing for your attention.
A LITTLE VOLCANIC DRAMA, A GREAT DEAL OF CANARIAN CHARACTER, AND ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO MAKE A FUSS ABOUT IT.
