STYLE
Contemporary architecture rooted in rural tradition

Set among the rolling hills of the Langhe, Casa di Langa is a contemporary retreat shaped by the landscape and architectural traditions of Piedmont. Surrounded by vineyards, hazelnut groves and wooded hills, the hotel draws inspiration from the region’s rural buildings while expressing it through a modern architectural language.

The architecture is composed of simple volumes and a restrained material palette. Stone, timber and natural finishes connect the building to its surroundings, while generous glazing opens the interiors towards the landscape. The design avoids a literal reproduction of traditional forms, instead translating their proportions, textures and relationship with the land into a contemporary setting.

The hotel’s position on the hillside makes the landscape an essential part of its spatial experience. Terraces and outdoor areas frame views across the Langhe, while the building’s arrangement creates a gradual transition between interior spaces and the surrounding countryside. The architecture feels grounded in its setting, yet open to the changing light and expansive views.

Inside, the design continues this balance between regional character and contemporary comfort. Natural materials and a muted palette create a calm atmosphere, with carefully selected furnishings and details reinforcing the connection to the landscape. The interiors are understated, allowing the textures of the materials and the views beyond to take precedence.

Sustainability also informs the project’s approach. The use of local materials, energy-conscious systems and landscape-sensitive planning reflects an effort to reduce the hotel’s environmental impact while maintaining a high level of comfort.

Casa di Langa offers a contemporary interpretation of rural hospitality in Piedmont. Its architecture is defined by a close relationship with the landscape, a sensitivity to local traditions and a restrained design approach that gives the setting a central role.

ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE

Casa di Langa demonstrates how contemporary hospitality architecture can draw on regional identity without resorting to imitation. Through simple volumes, natural materials and carefully framed views, the project establishes a dialogue between the built environment and the Langhe landscape. Its significance lies in the integration of architecture, local character and environmental awareness into a cohesive retreat.
