HÔTEL DES GRANDS BOULEVARDS
LOCATION: 2nd Arrondissement, Paris, France
INTERIOR DESIGN: Dorothée Meilichzon
YEAR: 2017 (hotel opening)
STYLE: Contemporary Heritage Interiors / Parisian Architectural Restoration
Situated along the Grands Boulevards in central Paris, Hôtel des Grands Boulevards occupies a historic building whose architectural character reflects the layered history of the French capital. Reimagined with interiors by Dorothée Meilichzon, the hotel brings contemporary design into dialogue with the proportions, materials and atmosphere of traditional Parisian architecture.
The project takes inspiration from the decorative traditions of the eighteenth century while introducing a distinctly contemporary approach to space and materiality. Rather than recreating a historic interior, Meilichzon interprets classical architectural references through restrained forms, unexpected textures and carefully composed details.
The building’s original proportions provide the framework for the interior transformation. Tall openings, traditional spatial arrangements and the intimate scale of the rooms establish a connection with the architectural heritage of the surrounding neighbourhood.
Inside, the design combines velvet, marble, timber and softly coloured surfaces. These materials are arranged in a layered composition that balances historical references with contemporary simplicity. Subtle contrasts between curved forms and geometric detailing introduce visual interest without overwhelming the spaces.
The guest rooms explore a muted palette of greens, blues and warm neutral tones. Carefully designed furniture, tactile fabrics and integrated architectural details create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and distinctly Parisian.
An internal courtyard provides a quieter counterpoint to the lively boulevard outside. This transition between the energy of the city and the calm of the hotel is an important part of the spatial experience.
Throughout the property, contemporary interventions respect the scale and character of the historic building while introducing a fresh interpretation of Parisian hospitality. The result is an interior environment shaped by architectural memory rather than historical imitation.
Hôtel des Grands Boulevards demonstrates how thoughtful interior architecture can renew an existing urban building, preserving its sense of place while creating a distinctive contemporary identity.
