HÔTEL BELLEVIGNE

LOCATION: Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy, France

INTERIOR DESIGN: Jordane Arrivetz, Notoire

YEAR: 2024 (hotel reopening)

STYLE: Contemporary Heritage Restoration / Wine Country Architecture

Located in the historic wine-growing village of Chambolle-Musigny, Hôtel Bellevigne offers a contemporary interpretation of Burgundian hospitality rooted in the architectural and cultural traditions of the region. The transformation of an existing property brings together historic rural character, carefully considered interiors and a close relationship with the surrounding vineyard landscape.

The hotel’s architecture reflects the understated character of Burgundy’s traditional village buildings. Pitched roofs, masonry walls and a restrained exterior composition establish a familiar architectural presence within the historic settlement.

Rather than introducing an overtly contemporary exterior, the project focuses on renewing the existing building while preserving its relationship with the surrounding streetscape. This approach allows the hotel to remain connected to the architectural identity of Chambolle-Musigny.

The interiors, designed by Jordane Arrivetz of Notoire, introduce a contemporary language inspired by the colours, materials and traditions of Burgundy. Natural textures, warm timber surfaces and carefully composed furnishings create a dialogue between regional heritage and modern hospitality.

The design incorporates references to the local wine-making culture without relying on literal decoration. Subtle material contrasts, earthy tones and tactile finishes evoke the surrounding vineyards and the agricultural history of the region.

Guest rooms are conceived as intimate, understated spaces. Soft lighting, restrained furnishings and a warm material palette establish an atmosphere of calm, allowing the architectural character of the existing building to remain present.

Communal spaces continue this dialogue between tradition and contemporary design. The relationship between interior architecture, local craftsmanship and the surrounding wine culture creates a sense of place that extends beyond the visual identity of the hotel.

Hôtel Bellevigne demonstrates how the renovation of an existing hospitality property can preserve regional architectural character while introducing a contemporary interior experience informed by local materials and cultural traditions.
